Stephan R. Leimberg

The late Stephan R. Leimberg was CEO of Leimberg and LeClair, Inc., an estate and financial planning software company, CEO of LISI, Leimberg Information Services, Inc., an email newsletter service, and President of Leimberg Associates, Inc., a publishing and software company. He was an Adjunct Professor in the Masters of Taxation Program of Villanova University School of Law and former adjunct at Temple University School of Law. He holds a B.A. from Temple University, and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law. Leimberg was the Editor of the American Society of Financial Service Professionals audio publication, Keeping Current.

Leimberg was the author or co-author of numerous books on estate, financial, and employee benefit and retirement planning and a nationally known speaker. Leimberg was the creator and principal author of the entire nine-book Tools & Techniques series, including The Tools & Techniques of Estate Planning, The Tools & Techniques of Financial Planning, The Tools & Techniques of Employee Benefit and Retirement Planning, The Tools & Techniques of Life Insurance Planning, The Tools & Techniques of Charitable Planning, The Tools & Techniques of Investment Planning, The Tools & Techniques of Risk Management, The Tools & Techniques of Practice Management, and The Tools & Techniques of Retirement Income Planning. Leimberg was co-author of Tax Planning with Life Insurance with noted attorney Howard Zaritsky, The Book of Trusts with attorneys Charles K. Plotnick and Daniel Evans, and How to Settle an Estate with Charles K. Plotnick. He was also a contributing author of the American Bar Association’s The Lawyer’s Guide to Retirement.

Leimberg was co-creator of many software packages for the financial services professional, including Estate and Financial Planning NumberCruncher (estate planning), DeCoupleCruncher (estate planning), Financial Analyzer II (financial calculations), Estate Planning Quickview (Estate Planning Flow Charts), Life Settlement NumberCruncher (life settlement buy-hold analysis), Planning Ahead for a Secure Retirement (PowerPoint Client Seminar) and Toward a Zero Estate Tax (PowerPoint Client Estate Planning Seminar).

A nationally known speaker, Professor Leimberg addressed the Miami Tax Institute, the NYU Tax Institute, the Federal Tax Bar, the Notre Dame Law School and Duke University Law School’s Estate Planning Conference, the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils, the AICPA’s National Estate Planning Forum, the ABA Section on Taxation, and The Annual Meeting of the American Society of Financial Service Professionals. Leimberg also spoke to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Leimberg was awarded the Excellence in Writing Award of the American Bar Association’s Probate and Property Section. He was honored as Estate Planner of the Year by the Montgomery County Estate Planning Council and as Distinguished Estate Planner by the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. He was also a recipient of the President’s Cup of the Philadelphia Life Underwriters, a two-time Boris Todorovitch Lecturer, and the First Ben Feldman Lecturer.

Leimberg was named Edward N. Polisher Lecturer of the Dickinson School of Law and 2004 recipient of the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils Distinguished Accredited Estate Planner award.

Carolynn B. Tomin, CFP®

Carolynn B. Tomin, CFP®, specializes in financial education. She is the Program Director for Boston University’s classroom and online financial planning programs and has augmented curriculum for the online program for fifteen years. She has taught estate planning courses, virtual reviews, and CFP® Certification Exam reviews for twenty years at colleges in Massachusetts and Florida, and for many banks and financial service companies in both states. 

As cofounder of a financial education company, Beacon Hill Financial Educators, she developed and presented continuing education courses to many financial service corporations and financial planning organizations.

Ms. Tomin served as a member of CFP Board’s Council on Education from 2009 – 2012, and was appointed Chair in 2012.  She has also served on the board of directors for the southwest Florida chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She is a former member of the Boston Estate Planning Council.

William B. Reeve

Bill is a principal of Mahony & Reeve, LLC, a medium-sized CPA firm specializing in tax planning and tax preparation, located in Natick, Massachusetts. His role in the firm is to provide clients with stock option strategies, AMT planning, and oversee the taxation of clients’ like-kind exchanges and their activity in DSTs – Delaware Statutory Trusts. In addition, he is a registered representative of Kastel Capital Advisors, LLC, a wealth management firm in Wellesley, Massachusetts. At this firm, he provides clients with asset management strategies and retirement planning services. From 1995 to 2005, he ran Sound Financial Planning, Inc., an investment advisory firm that specialized in portfolio management and tax planning.

Bill taught Tax Planning and Investment Planning for Boston University’s classroom program for more than 15 years. He was also a contributor to the online program’s Tax course and Investment course where he wrote and edited curriculum. Currently, he is an instructor for Northeastern University’s graduate program, teaching accounting, finance, and economic courses. He has been adjunct faculty for Northeastern University since 1996.

Bill previously taught tax planning and case analysis for the BU/Kaplan Review. He also taught financial planning courses for Merrimack College and Northeastern University, and at financial service firms, such as John Hancock, American Express, PNC Bank, Fidelity Investments, Merrill Lynch, and Eastern Bank. He has also taught financial planning and retirement planning to employees of Pepsi, Shaws Supermarkets, Exelon,and Northern Trust Bank, as well.

In addition to being a CFP® professional, a CFA charter holder, and an Enrolled Agent (EA), Bill also has anMBA with a specialization in Finance. Upon completion of his degree, he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, a national honor society for business students. Bill is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA), the CFA Institute, the Boston Security Analysts Society (BSAS), and was one of the founding members of the Boston Area Alumni Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma.
